It’s been about 3 years now since I have quit drinking soda. It hasn’t been the easiest thing to quite but I did and I know it’s for the best. I will give you a couple of reasons why people drink soda and why you shouldn’t drink it. I think it’s vital for everyone to know the risk of soda and what it can do.
I know greatest amount of people most likely know that soda is bad for them but maybe not everyone know the extent of how bad it is. I’m not going to lie and say that I haven’t drank soda for the previous 3 years, I have cheated a couple of times and had a sip or two of it. What I’m trying to say is that I don’t drink it every day, not even every week, the only reason I have drunk soda is because my boyfriend drinks it and I would sip on his. But know both of us don’t drink it at all.
Here are 8 reasons why people drink soda (and most of these if not all you will know): it’s very tasty, it’s everywhere, convenience” grab-n- go”, promotion and advertising, soda habit, it’s cheap, thirst, caffeine addiction.
These are 16 reasons you should stop the habit or whatever you might have. Soda is useless, weight gain and obesity, diabetes, weakened bone and risk of osteoporosis, dental caries and erosion, kidney damage, increased blood pressure, likely to cause heartburn, metabolic syndrome risk factor, harmful effects on liver, impaired digestive system, dehydration, high caffeine content, toxins-aspartame, possible cell damage ability, and last but not least there are so many healthy alternatives….like tea or even better water!
I’ll leave you with these reasons so you can ponder on them.

Get up at 9:30 am getting ready for work. Even though this is just a part-time job, it is really important to be at work on time. This part-time job will teach me responsibility and a way to prepare myself for the future when I get my big girl job.
My main job has a good motto that we like to go by. It goes like this: if your early your on time, if your on time your late, if your late your fired. At first when I heard that saying it kind of scared me a little because in my head I was thinking what if I’m going to be late a time or two. What I think the real intention of it was to prepare me for the future.
Recently I ran across an article on yahoo that was talking about “9 bad work habits and how to break them”. It was a really interesting article to me because I always wanted to know what not to do when I was going to get my big girl job. Also I automatically thought about being late at my job now and if it was a big deal or not for my future career. I knew from my current job being late is never a good way to show your work ethic.
So I am going to give you guys the list of the 9 bad work habits: you constantly check your email or post updated on Facebook or Twitter, you write and send-work emails too hastily, you’re set in your ways, you’re too involved in office politics, you start each day with the wrong plan of attack or none at all, you’re always running late (not good…) you can’t manage your personal and professional lives, you don’t take lunch breaks, you have a negative attitude.
Just try not to do any of these and you should be good to go, also if you have time to check out the article it will tell you ways you can fix these bad habits, good luck!

Did you know that? There were 248,300 rapes/sexual assaults in the United States in 2007, more than 500 per day, up from 190,600 in 2005. Women were more likely than men to be victims; the rate for rape/sexual assault for persons age 12 or older in 2007 was 1.8 per 1,000 for females and 0.1 per 1,000 for males and On average more than three women a day are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends in the United States. In 2005, 1,181 women were murdered by an intimate partner?!
Those are just two facts that I gave as an example but there is so much more! I couldn’t believe how serious of a problem violence in a romantic relationships is. I knew that it happens all the time but not to the extent of someone being killed. There are a lot of cases out there to where it possibly kills an innocent individual.
This topic I have been doing research on in one of my other classes and I have also found something interesting. I’m going to leave you with The Top 10 Most Abusive Celebrity Couples
: 10. Spencer Pratt & Heidi Montag 9. Paris Hilton & Nick Carter 8. Sam Roson & Linday Lohan 7. Liza Minelli & David Gest 6. Bobby Brown & Whitney Houston 5. Tina Turner & Ike 4. Amy Winehouse & Blake firlder-Civil 3. Mike Tyson & Robin Givens 2. Christ Brown & Rihanna 1. OJ & Nicole Brown Simpson
It all started in 2006 after 4 friends graduated from high school. They had no intentions of making a show or becoming famous they just wanted to take some time off in the summer to accomplish some things off their list that they have made. After they go to talking and deciding to accomplish this list of things a question came along: “what would you do before you die?”
Four years later these guys are still together and have had two seasons of the show called the Buried Life. Last year I had the great opportunity to meet these guys! Jonnie, Duncan, Ben and Dave came to SIUe to talk about their life and how they became who they are today.
I wasn’t able to make it to the actual presentation they gave but I was able to meet them that night before they left. It was the most inspiring moment of my life; I can’t explain the feeling that I had when I was asked the question: what do you want to do before you die? I was able to tell them what my life dream/goal was. When I was able to talk to them and see how great these guys really are made me want to do something like this of my own. Not staring a show or anything like that but helping others and caring about other people’s dreams! So I really encourage for you guys to take time and watch an episode or two if you have not seen it yet, it will change your life!
